I am ordering an iMac:
2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
2TB Serial ATA Drive + 256GB Solid State Drive
8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5 SDRAM
Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad (English) & User's Guide
Magic Mouse + Magic Trackpad
Apple Battery Charger
Apple Remote
iWork preinstalled
AppleCare Protection Plan for iMac - Auto-enroll

I am wondering if i order it today, with fast shipping, when they say it will arrive anywhere from the 12th to the 17th, what are the chances it will arrive on the 12th.
what are people experiences with their shipping estimates?

I am going to be off thursday and friday this week and want to get some play in.
thank you for your feedback

Depends where its assembled.

when you say that do you mean that if they post "will ship in 2-4 days" and it is shipping from china then that is normally shipping in 4 days? or say CA will be the 2 and not the 4?

Apple shipping estimates are usually pretty conservative. I have always received items sooner than their estimates.

That said, there is no guarantee. Go with what they say and if it sooner, then be happy.

Little known fact.

Call apple, be very polite and tell them you just ordered a mac. Give them your web order number and ask if they would be willing to upgrade to to next day air.

Ive done this on 4 iMacs, even the brand new ones that i just ordered 2 of.

I was told next day is not available on CTO systems, and was offered freebies instead.
Just received my new replacement today, first was damaged in shipping.

Ordered on July 31 BTO, Shipped out on Aug 4 in Cali. Fedex says it will arrive in NY on Aug 12. That is kinda long wait.

Ordered a custom 27'' iMac 2.93 i7 on Aug 5 and it was picked up by FedEx today in Union City, California. The estimated delivery states that it's going to be delivered this Wednesday.

They informed you incorrectly.

I ordered 2 i7 2tb+ ssd with 8gb ram and both were delivered via next day air after I called and requested it. (for free)

i called them, hadn't ordered yet, and they said with my configuration they would not be able to offer that, . . . . but, i found out that my local apple store had the iMac 27" with the i7 cpu in stock, so i am just going to pick that up and do the RAM upgrade myself, will ahve to wait overnight for the RAM, but i will have everything except for the HD issues, but will just live with the 1TB for now. i have 2 FW800 drives anyway

Ordered a custom i7 2.93 ghz on August 1st. Shipped on August 4th from CA. Received today!!!! :p:p

People don't seem to understand. Just because it says "Ships in 2-4 Days" Doesn't mean you will have it in your hands in 2-4Days...

"Ships in 2-4 Days" means it will leave THEIR warehouse in that time period.

Actual DELIVERY of your Mac is extra, that could be anywhere upto 14 days depending on courier and where it's shipping from.

Mine (iMac 27) was shipped on the 6th of august.
According to the trace page it was supposed to be delivered between the 16 th and 19 th of august.
Yesterday afternoon (10th of august) there was a ring at the door and the iMac was brought in.
So their is no way of telling.;)

"CTO = configure to order"

"Not yet shipped"

Apple has received your order.
For an iMac, from placing the order it takes 2-4 days to build the system if it is CTO, if is not CTO, it should ship within 24 hours.

"Prepared for shipment"
CTO system is built, or stock system is ready to ship.
Will be in Fedex/UPS hands' within 24 hours.

"Shipped"
After you get this, it is completely out of Apple's hands. There should be a tracking number and you can use it to check. How soon you get it after that completely depends on the shipper and the speed you selected.

I ordered mine on 7/31, it was delivered on 8/7. It was CTO with the i7 and wired keyboard, and shipped from Newark, CA to Orange County (southern CA)
