Apple should go thermonuclear with Safari's privacy

The web is a free-for-all right now. I've been so proud and excited seeing all of the privacy improvements Apple has brought to Safari recently, but they should go thermonuclear with this. Unlike Mozilla/Firefox, Apple doesn't have to worry about Google's money at all (the vast majority of Mozilla's money depends on their search deal with Google, so Firefox can't take things as far as they want or Google won't sign another search deal with them, which would ruin Mozilla). Safari has huge usage share and they could change the web in a big way if they put their foot down. Also, apparently Google pays Apple to be the default search in Safari but it's nothing, Apple doesn't need that money, they make that much money in 1 week, they wouldn't even notice it's gone. These companies have been getting away with murder (not literally, of course haha) and Apple can do something about it, and they've really got nothing to lose.

So what search engine are you advocating apple use then? Bing?

Apple can do something about it, and they've really got nothing to lose.

By 'thermonuclear' (borrowing phrase from Steve here) I mean stop ALL tracking and filter ads, not all ads but ads that pose a security risk or misleading ads. And other technical things that I'm not aware of (I'm no expert).

Apple can let users decide what their default search engine will be.

I'm not criticizing Apple at all, I'm praising them and hoping they take this up another notch, they're already the privacy leader. Well I guess my only constructive criticism is, they shouldn't contribute to Google's near monopoly on search, they should cancel that default search deal with Google

I think its more to do with Mozilla doesn't care anymore than 'taking as far'

Privacy on Mozilla *used* better than it has been now. on FF61x/62.0 etc.. and thanks to these "web extensions" which Mozilla praises are better, its actually getting worse. since allot of developers are no updating their app, or have decided to leave it, and move on.

Apple may not need the money, but we know anyone who's greedy with money always takes it... You'll never hear some company say "I don't want your money, i have enough" because it never happens. However, if Mozilla lost Google people would cringe as well. and probably more, because Mozilla comes off as a 'privacy browser'

It's only natural if you wanna use this in our product, you should pay me for doing it.
