It just makes more sense. Why should I have to go into a separate app to find my friends or items to then tap “directions” to go back into Apple Map? Would be useful just to have it all in the Apple Maps app.

I disagree. Find My has its own purpose. I dont use it to navigate the same way I dont use Maps to find things.
Otherwise you end up with an app looking like this.

Yes I also think that Find My has its purpose and that an integration with Maps would not be that great. You already have a feature in Maps to share your ride, position and approximate arrival time to your friend. I can’t think of a scenario where you’d need to go back and forth between the two apps, as they don’t have the same purpose.

My only issue with the lack of integration with Maps, is that I can see where my kids are in FindMy, but the map is static and while showing POI's, I am unable to actually click on them to see where they are (if they are at a POI).

It would be nice to have a button that allowed you to "Open in Maps" if necessary for this function.

What I find very interesting is that if you are texting with someone you are able to track, it shows where they are in the iMessage app if you click their pic at the top of the page to get to their "info"....when you look at it there, you CAN click the info button and "open in Maps"!!

Yes! I have often wanted to click on POIs in Find My. I see the utility in a separate app, but would love full Maps functionality. (And perhaps to have a Find My layer in the Maps app, like satellite, traffic, etc.) That would be cool.

Maybe there should be contextual menu item "open in Apple Maps"

This is something I‘ve been suggesting ever since the Find My app was revamped.

Having access to friend locations inside Maps is very useful for roadtrips with multiple cars. I remember the last time we drove to a vacation home and it was pretty much constant VOIP calling to check in on each other.
