iPod Apple should Re-release iPods

Looking around numerous threads I see many people yearning for one of their old ipods back. Wouldn't it be cool if apple would sell every ipod they made on their site. Even if it was just a limited time. Like say in 2011 for the 10th anniversary of the 1st ipod. They could release an old ipod starting with the 1st gen every week and then after the final release they could update their product line with new ones. I think many people would buy these.

I don't see why people would buy them or how it would be profitable. They would have to retool the line to make obsolete products that can be purchased at significantly lower prices? The most famous "anniversary" model they did was by most indicates a futuristic one.

Better idea would be an Apple Museum - even if it was just a small corner of an Apple Store.

Displaying the evolution of Apple products and their huge impact on the industry.

Hmmmm...an interesting idea. Kind of similar to the athletic shoe industry, with Nike re-releasing old Jordans, Air Maxes, and other high end shoes.

But that's nothing new for fashion. Even when electronics get released in retro form, it's usually with new internals...And this would not be an Apple thing to do.

But Nike still uses the same cloth now that they did for the original shoes. I doubt that Apple can get the hard drives for the original iPods right now.

I have a "Limited Edition" Sony Walkman for their 25th anniversary. It is a chrome cassette player. There were only 500 of them made. They were numbered, and I have #101. I won it in a radio station promotion.

I also worked in a retail store where we had 2 of them to sell. Guess how many sold? ZERO. Retail price was $499 back then... early 90's IIRC.

Last year I put mine up on ebay. It was NEVER out of the box. So in absolute mint condition. I put a $500 reserve price on it.

Guess who STILL owns it?

Point being, nostalgia is nice when economically feasible.

Now, I am saving it for the 50 year anniversary. Maybe by then someone will think of it as a valuable collector's edition. If not, I will pass it on to one of my daughters. Maybe they can get $500 for the 100th anniversary.

hmm.. i made this concept a while back.. it would be cool to have current design trends implemented into old technology. id love to see an imac g4 with the aluminum / black gloss look of todays macs.
