Apple has had some cool stuff, like the iMac G4, and clamshells iBooks. They should go retro and release some LE products of old designs with update processors and stuff. I would want an old g4 Imac but don't want a PPC. But then again, that would probably cost Apple a pretty penny to devote to making these products. But since it's LE, they would charge an arm and a leg. Or maybe this is just a bad idea. :D

I remember liking the keyboard, or maybe the combination of keyboard and palm rest, of the clamshell ibooks.

For keyboard now, I have to say it's the Air all the way.

If they revive the clamshells (doubtful, imo) then I'll get one. I loved the fruit colors, first got a tangerine one and then the lime SE.

I liked the screws on the clamshell, I thought they were part of the blatantly cool funk of the thing. Like "yeah, this thing is BUILT."

Because its old tech for a computer.....

G4 might be old, but PPC is superior to Intel. Always has been, always will be.

Personally I'd love a G4 iMac, but it's a bit hard to find one that hasn't been abused to death that's for sale. The people who want to sell them seemingly don't treat them nice :(

I think that would really be a neat product... How cool would the iLamp be with a 24 inch screen... I think I would have to pick one up just for novelty sake.

Dont know about mass-market appeal.. but it truly would be cool.

And a clamshell intelbook... yeah that would be very, very cool :)

The 24" Screen would snap the little arm like a twig!

I agree though, If I ever get the chance to shoehorn a newer board into an iMac G4 case it'll happen in a heartbeat. MicroATX boards are getting smaller and smaller, and I imagine it'll be possible soon enough. I suppose the hardest part would be getting a pin-out of the screen connector.

Thats a bold statement, since PPC is a type of chip, while Intel is a maker of a chips, meaning they can make any chip they want! ;) :p

But as far as PPC being better then X86, I can only say that a chip is as good as the companies developing it. Thats why X86 is better then PPC

Dont discredit that arm.. its actually very well made and sturdy... hey, the base is certainly big enough, and just think, it supported a 20 inch screen at one time.. whats another 4 inches gonna do :)

Texas, unfortunately.
Heck, Apple should seriously ramp up the G4 and put it in a clamshell iBook.

I f***ing love the palm rests on that thing.

(BTW, if you can't tell, I'm a big PPC fanboy(girl?), G3 in particular. (see my sig ;))
