So I'm really in a rock and a hard place here. For the past year and a half, I've been rocking the 2019 MBA with a DualCore i5.
Since I first got the laptop, I really have become much more of a power user with the laptop as I have continuously started to use it for work and I just want something more powerful.

I have got my eyes on the 2020 M1 MBP (with 16GB and 512MB) because it has everything I want and more. I'm fine with the dongle life, I'm now used to it 😅. But I know something even better is on the horizon, BUT a local store has a great deal on Macs at the moment which unfortunately expires before WWDC (which really, maybe won't when the 14" MBP releases).

What should I do? Any help is appreciated! :)

I say buy it and then turn right around and buy the next thing Apple announces...

It seems to be all the rave these days.

Well I bought a 2020 2.0ghz MBP 13 16GB/512GB, returned it, bought an M1 MBP 8/256 on release day, and it was worth every penny.

Absolutely love the M1 to this day. If you feel like your laptop is genuinely slowing down your productivity to the point where an upgrade is a worthwhile improvement (and the M1 is a big improvement over what you have now), and you enjoy the current design of macbooks, then go for it.

2020 M1 Macs are great. If there is a good deal on it, you can go for it. But I would wait since new Macbook Pros should be coming soon

So Calif
Wait till the next MBP version comes out - the M1 MBP will drop in price.

Like the M1 Air that just dropped $100 because of the rumored colored Mx Air coming out soon.

Apple doesn't drop its prices when different models are introduced - the current MBA and MBP models are not likely to be refreshed at the time the rumored, higher-powered MBAs with M1X/M2 processors, 16" display, etc. are introduced. Apple doesn't change prices on a model unless it has been refreshed. What retailers may do in terms of temporary/optional price reductions is another matter.

As to the M1 Air that "just dropped $100." You're confusing correlation and causality. Some retailers may have announced a discount, but it's certainly not because of a rumor, it's due to normal business considerations - reduce inventory/stimulate store activity (sales that bring people to the website/store result in sales of other/additional products that are not necessarily being discounted), etc.

[Added] - There is another situation when Apple may adjust price - currency exchange rate fluctuations. But if you're in the US (which is suggested by the "$100") you won't be seeing that kind of price adjustment.

This is IMO the crucial sentence in your message. If this machine has „everything and more“, why waiting for a new one that has more than everything and more?
