Apple store appointment

I think I'm going to bring my iPhone to the apple store and get a new one. I have dust under the screen and cracks near the dock connector. Do I need an appointment or can I just walk in. Also do you think the newest iPhones will have 3.1.2 or newer

A friend at work just had there iPhone replaced for exactly the same thing and it was running 3.1.3

not at the moment.

supposedly geohot has found a new jailbreak that'll jailbreak the ipad and iphone on 3.1.3 but he's said he may may not release it. if anything, we'll know after ipad launch.
