Hi guys and gals,

What is your experience (recently with the new Alum iMac) at the
Apple Store with regards to wanting a replacement iMac for your
iMac if you had a stuck or dead pixel?

I bought a 12" PB from Amazon couple years ago, had 3 stuck pixel
and a weird fitting keyboard, they had a great return policy so I got
a new one since the first one was considered defective.

I have heard Apple Store will not allow return/exchange of item if
there are no more than 7 or so stuck/dead pixels... but have read
several posts recently stating people have been getting replacement
units for screens with stuck/dead pixels... any word on Apple Store's
policy for this?

And if you're in Austin, that would be even better.

Tks,
Larty

Diam.. wow... how many dead/stuck pixels did you have on each of the
iMacs that you got?

Also, if you have them run it at the store, you have to go through the
setup process before you can shut it down no?

Tks!

What if you ordered from the online Apple Store.
Would one be able to return it to a local Apple store if there were dead pixel issues?

Thanks,

I'd be interested in this as well...have a 2.8 ghz iMac on order thru the online Apple store. I've purchased almost all of my Mac's through Amazon.com prior to this one and I know they have a terrific returns policy, but since Amazon isn't carrying the 2.8 version, Apple online it is....or downgrade and get the 2.4 version from Amazon.

I took back 2 20" and 1 24" for dead or stuck pixels. They exhanged without a problem. Maybe on the 4th one they were getting a little anxious! Overall the Apple Store where I live is great!

You're talking about Apple Stores, but will the policy (and attitude) change if an iMac is bought through an educational program at a college?

There are several threads with complaints about bad pixels on many monitors. Is this common for Apple monitors? did it occur with previous iMac models? I have a 17" LCD (Cornea CT1702T) from 2003, and the number of bad pixels (stuck or dead) is zero. I thought the quality of technologies were supposed to improve, not get worse.
If there is bad quality control during the current manufacturing process, do you think -- for the sake of their own reputation -- that Apple will "lean on the manufacturers" to encourage better quality control in displays that are available for sale in the future (and how far future? are their warehouses full of the current displays now for a long time) or in a future model of iMac?

it really depends on the store...if you do a search for a thread titled "completely outraged" you'll find my thread which describes how my local apple store has pretty much no return policy at all...

but I have heard of some apple stores being very loose on the dead pixel thing and exchanging it. I wish you luck!
