I just got my iMac back from AppleCare/Apple Store service for the fifth or sixth time. This machine has had its logic board, HDD, power supply and LCD in the past 10 months (logic board a little farther back).

Anyways, the problem (won't often wake from sleep, never wakes for EyeTV recordings) is still around. What can I do? The kids at the Apple Store obviously cannot fix it and I really have no desire to go out of my way again just to have it not fixed.

Is there any way I can demand a replacement machine or something like that? There is, at least in my mind, something really, really wrong with this particular iMac. So much so that if I hadn't ever owned another Mac I would consider switching to a PC... that makes me sick.

Lemon law?

Is there nothing like a lemon law for cars for Apple equipment sold? I would say as many problems as you've had they should give you a new one.

Call Apple support with a detailed history (with documents to back up what you are saying) about the problems you are having. From what I've read on various forums, they will generally replace the Mac if it's been in three times for service. Ask to talk to managers if the person you talk to isn't getting you the answer you want.

Contact Apple Customer Relations. These folks are the one's that deal with issues such as yours. We had a three year old iMac G5 with the bulging capacitor problem. Apple Tech support escalated the call to Apple Customer relations who verified that the machine was just one month outside the three year extended repair period. Customer Relations said that Apple would repair the machine for free anyway! We took it to the local Apple Store and they replaced the logic board and power supply.

You don't still have the Customer Relations phone number do you?
