I think waiting 5 weeks for the Lion announcement is a good idea.

I was just thinking, in the past Apple didn't even bother to put the 4870M or 5870M in the iMac so this possible sudden change has me wondering, would they go all out and put 2 GB of VRAM as well ?
That would be great with the huge resolution of the 27".

There won't be one. The 3.4 GHz i7 is the best 95W desktop CPU Intel has to offer.

Anyone want to speculate as to why the top end iMac has a different model number? Have we seen that sort of disparity in a lineup before?

30" iMac. Mr. X was wrong. Or the two middle iMac's are a 24"to 25" iMac, making the base iMac $999. Making the last iMac a 27"

Maybe the amount of graphics memory differs -> slightly different mainboard -> different model number

I'd doubt it. Apples gunning for Thunderbolt. I think it's a safe assumption all of the refreshes from here on will all have Thunderbolt.

A slight distraction for everyone ... With all the page updates i'm doing i noticed the white iPhone pictures on www.apple.com and www.apple.com/uk are different !! (Check the clocks ... before the front pages get updated).

Anyone know why ??

The UK and US Apple stores seem to be up for me, with the "Turbocharged" iMac advert yet the specs say:

The reflection cuts throught the "9" on the UK image, but not the US one.

The UK one says 09:41, the US one says 9:41AM. The messages app symbol is slightly different as well. Don't know why it matters, but there you go.

So the US version has the clock in 12-hour time while the UK version has the clock in 24-hour time. You'd imagine these images are localised.
