I returned a macbook, and purchased a cheaper one. The difference between the two was put on an apple store gift card. Can I give the card to someone, or is it linked to my apple id?

It is not linked to anything. You can use it, give it away, sell it, etc. .. it works like any other gift card ... totally transferable.
