I popped into the Apple Store in Glasgow on the way to work this morning following last nights rumours, which turned out to be true.

They still, at 10am, had the £782 entry level iMac on show.

A sales guy came over to ask if he could help, and I asked him about the rumoured step up to 2.66 from 2.4GHz in the entry level and the possibility of a new price.

He simply said to me that I could "buy our products with confidence".

Lying, smug, little b@stard knew all along.

You really think anyone outside Cupertino knows about product refreshes?

He may be aware of rumours too - but employee's at Apple Store's know less than me and you do unless they read rumours.

You honestly expect me to believe the store didn't have a shipment of the new models either in store for display later on today, or scheduled to come in either tomorrow or the following day to tie in with the online launch?

Oh, he knew alright.

If they did, then the store manager would be on a strict NDA and none of the employees would know anything. But I doubt that they'd have the models in for display either - they'll be getting stock over the next few days.

Nothing has changed - they all look the same. Slightly different ports, but if a customer wants to see the product, nothing has physically changed.

He didn't know. You really don't have a clue about retail..

Exactly ... they really don't need to put new models on display .. they're physically (apart from displayport and FW800 port) identical

When i last spoke to a genius he basically said that they usually get them in during the day of the release as a big anonymous pallet with an opening time plastered on them ... They also get internal emails during the day with the new price/spec etc lists... but they certainly don't get them ahead of time
