okay, you guys are geniuses [yes, i am kissing up but i am also very earnest in my awe] so please help if you can.
i was using my MacBook Pro monday at school and it just went blank/turned off.
power source was battery [i had forgotten my ac adaptor but still had 33% power at the time of failure]
had word, trial version of photoshop cs3 and trial version of bridge cs3 open.
so to restart, i tried pressing the power button and nothing. i waited a few minutes then pressed it again and it made this 2-3 second tone then went blank again.
waited a few more minutes and it worked for a couple minutes then went blank again.
i rushed off to the apple store but it turns out they are remodeling for a week (and of course they started that very day
)
i gave it yesterday off [along with my depressed self]
i am typing from it now but with great trepidation. i just ran disk utility and it said volume passed. are there any other apps/utilities i should use? the next nearest apple store is 4+ hours away. so any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. also, a week or so ago i used a western digital fire wire that i later learned was bad for MBP. ACK. i dont know if that is important. but my mac, however sad this may sound, is my life.
thanks in advance for any help [or pity] you can give...
