I'm surprised how big Omaha actually is. Every year on our drive to CO, we stop in Grand Island, NE, but we pass through Omaha. Hopefully the store will thrive there.
Omaha and the surrounding communities have half the population of Nebraska, so the number of potential customers is really good. The Village Pointe mall is an outstanding location surrounded by similar types of anchor stores, restaurants and entertainment venues. Also, all the car dealerships moved West to that general location also.
My only concern is that Windoze is so pervasive in the Midwest compared to California so I hope it doesn't just become an iPod distribution center. I haven't come across too many people that own modern Macs like I do. I think it's because that is what they are familiar with at work and don't know what the alternatives are like.
I bring my Powerbook with me all the time when I work on people's Windoze machines and always make a point of downloading files and burning them to CDs using my Mac. I also allow my customers to browse the Internet using my Mac and Safari while I repair their machine.
Now if I can only figure out how to get a commission on the sales from the people I convert!
I've already been telling everyone that I encounter here at work about my upcoming Saturday going to the Grand Opening so maybe I can get a little buzz going and get some people to go just out of curiosity or just swing by because they were at the mall anyway.
