Apple store uk o2 pay&go > o2 contract number port?

How does this work?

I want to keep my o2 pay&go number and transfer it to my o2 contract when i sign up tomorrow at an Apple store.

Has anyone done this yet?

they should be able to port it and it will be classed as an UPGRADE. i made the mistake of taking a new contract and now i've lost all my old 'loyalty' make sure they upgrade your phone or you have port problems

I thought Apple stores wont do upgrades? Or is this a different type of upgrade?

Can i port numbers after i have purchased it at a later date?
