To make a long story short the other day we went to the apple store in woodlands mall to pick up an ipad 2. The 3 employees we begged to help us and answer questions came off with an fu attitude (ie they would rather stand around and do nothing than talk to us) I hate malls in general and was maybe the fifth time I've ever been in an apple store. My financee has been in them less and said something to the effect that if apple prides themselves on service she definitely did not see it there and was actually quite shocked with the fu attitude. Is this common among apple stores or is it because if the ipad 2. We could care less about ipad was buying it as a gift so we haven't been following it much.

Thanks in advance!

I have noticed a change in atmosphere in the Apple Stores over the last couple of years. None of the employees say a word to you, not even the one standing nearest the door as you walk in, not even a hello. They just stand around. They will talk to you if you come up to them but they do not initiate any contact.
It's more like they are security guards making sure that no one steals anything than employees hoping you will buy something.

I guess that is the price of success. The attitude has become one of complete arrogance. Either the product is supposed to be so popular, so fabulous, so perfect that you will want it without knowing anything about it, or if you don't already know everything about it before you walk in the door you obviously aren't serious in wanting it and therefore you aren't worth the time of day.

The Apple stores I have been to in the Boston area have been good. Nobody bothers you and follows you around and they have been friendly when answering questions. They do stand around, but they are right there when needed. Personally I like this, I can't stand people following me when I am just looking around. I want someone to answer my questions when I am ready and so far I've had good experiences.

I recently went into the Apple store at Northpark mall in Dallas. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful and all were busy the entire time I was waiting for my appointment. One guy welcomed me as I walked in, another checked me into my appointment, another yet told me I was next in line (had been waiting for 5min) and then my genius was super helpful. It was an overall good experience.

The customer service in a store most of the time has nothing to do with the company itself, but generally is solely a result of the employee morale in the individual store.

If theres a rotten manager in there that micromanages and makes everyone miserable you are going to have bad customer service. If the employees in there are happy, love their job because its a fun working environment and enjoy coming to work since everyone is friends and they all work together then you will generally see great customer service.

The only Apple store I was ever at (and I was only there once) was excellent and we were greeted upon entrance, then approached a few minutes after entering (that way you can look around before being bugged) and everyone was very friendly.
