I just got off the phone with a guy from an Apple Store, the guy didn't want to release to many details. He told me that they will be closing the Apple Store from 4pm-5pm in preparation for the 3G iPad launch. I just looked at the Apple Store Locater and it looks like every Apple Store will be closed for one hour. Most likely they will put those Black Curtains again like the Wi-Fi launch. So if you were planning to stay inside the store at 5pm, nobody won't be able to play with iPad's while waiting ;).

And lastly he told me "i'm pretty sure there will be a line" so......most likely I will be at my local apple store at 3:30pm.

Thanks for this info.

Quick question, did ANY store run out of stock on opening day for the WIFI? i.e. Do you guys thunk that anybody that wants a 3G on Friday in store get one?

Some stores did have plenty of stock.....but it wasn't till the next day that they had little inventory of Wi-Fi iPad's. Soon they didn't have any at all. I think that tomorrow at almost every apple store there will be plenty of stock, depending on area and city.;)

Probably shouldn't have any problems picking one up tomorrow. I'd guess demand for the 3G will be less than initial demand for the wifi only model. I walked into my local Apple store (Tampa) at 8 pm on launch day and they had tons of all models available---and that was with a morning launch.

Great. Thank you all for your replies.

I think this second launch is far more up in the air. With the iPad out now for about four weeks, the buzz has built and more folks may be prepping to buy. I know wifi ones are hard to come by in some markets - it's what allowed me to sell my 23 day old 16gb wifi and case for a bit more than my cost. my own markets had stock when i called them at 7pm on April 3rd. hard to tell how the 3g will do...i want one and am ready to hang in line...i work remotely and as there's internet access at the mall, i can camp-out outside the apple store and still have billable time!

Yeah, I called my local Apple store too and they were a bit cagey on the details only saying they are closing the store for an hour, from 4 to 5pm. I asked how many they would get and if I needed to go there early and they lady did not give me any real info.

I'm guessing though it's not going to be as busy as previous launches.

I can't see how they wont have enough 3g's of all models for everyone who shows up tomorrow. They have had plenty of time at this point to build up inventory and I think everyone will be fine for tomorrow. Now Saturday into Sunday, that may be a different story.

Great. I'm making the trek from Canada again to switch my wifi model to 3G. Just finding too many instances where I wanted the net but didn't have access.

I appreciate everyone's feedback!
A.

+1

Agreed, I really think Apple has learned a lesson of supply + demand. ;)

And I can remember when you bought your Apple products from Computer Town.

I can remember SELLING Mac's at Leon's Computer Store, beginning January 24, 1984...

Is there a counterpart (Rogers?) offering MicroSims and a month-to-month 3G deal in Canada?
