Apple supply chain

Greetings,

I have been searching around for a little over an hour now on information about Apple's supply chain. I am working on a project for an operations management class and all I have left to do is make a flow chart for what happens once a customer clicks the "buy now" button on the apple web site.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm assuming that since it's a school project, you have some resources you can use at school right? A good place to start might be your college bookstore, as they probably have a deal worked out with Apple. That rep might be willing to share details with you.

Usually businesses know how other competitors work. Since they put in the time and money to do the research, they have a fairly good idea of how the other guy does it. Strictly speaking, most of the supply information isn't exactly top secret. In fact, Apple probably has to file certain reports with state and federal authorities in order to be granted import access. Usually such things are public, and anyone can read them. The question is, what's the fastest and easiest way of getting the information without having to go to the state capital (or even Washington)?

although they want to keep it in secret, but according to the various mac products that i have bought. I would guess, when u press the button, the system automatically sends the order to the manufactures. The macbook and macbook pro come from manufactures that recieve order from apple in shanghai. Iphone comes from Taiwanese manufacture. The ipods, mac pros and the remaining apple products come from the main manufacturing area in Shenzhen (most of Apple products make there). Then these manufactures, sent the products directly to customers if they order it online, or they send chunks of supplies to the retail stores.
