Greetings,

I am on my second replacement iMac at the moment. Latest one being af week 2 21.5 inch machine which also has the dreaded Yellow tint.

This time around Apple support and their tech department has been sending me questionaires regarding the issue. In a very specific manner they have asked me about some of the same indicators as the ones used in the tests here and on imac.squeaked.com as well as asked me about calibration using the apple profiler and a hardware profiler.

Have any of you gotten the same kind of questionaires lately?

***EDIT*** I forgot to add the questionnaire text ***EDIT***

• What exact issue did you observe?
• When did you first observe the issue?
• How long have you had the system?
• What is the primary use of the system (Photographer, Graphics design, Gaming, general home use, office, etc...)

* With what image do you see the color non-uniformity issue?
- If using test images available on the web, record the URL for the website.
- Describe the image or test pattern content where you can see the uniformity issue: is it full white? grey bar? photo? Other?
- screen shot of the image if possible. (I already have it from you, but it is OK for you, could you please add some other screenshots?)
- Describe the location(s) on the display where you observe the issue.
- Describe the color (yellow, blue, other) where you see the issue
- describe the severity of the issue in a normal usage. Is the discoloration barely noticeable, noticeable with certain images only, always noticeable?

* Do you notice the non-uniformity before the unit is fully warmed up? Does the non-uniformity change after it is fully warmed up?

* What applications were you running (active and in the background) when the non-uniformity was observed?
- How long have these applications been used?

* How are you positioned when viewing the non-uniformity issue (yellow tinge)?
-are you viewing the display perpendicular to the display, or from an angle? Describe in detail if needed.i
- Is the non-unformity (yellow tinge) more noticeable or less noticeable if you move your eye level or the display so your viewing direction is perpendicular to the display surface?

* What is the brightness setting? (eg. maximum, 2 levels from max, etc)

* Do you use the Mac OSX internal 'Display Calibrator Assistant'?
- Does the customer see a difference on the non-uniformity before and after the calibration?

* Do you use external 3rd party calibrators (such as Spyder) to calibrate the display?
- Do you see a difference on the non-uniformity before and after the calibration?

Could you please also add as an attachment an Apple System Profiler report from the computer.

They've been doing this questionaire for at least the last few weeks as when I reported my iMac they conducted the same set of questions over the phone. I find these points slightly worrying:

1. If they are still conducting this field work does it suggest that the issue is still some way off being resolved. Guess it could be an old proforma the system throws up when a customer reports the issue, or they're just going through the motions.

2. I like the request for a screenshot-the Apple guy I was speaking with wanted me to use the Grab application until I pointed out that this obviously wouldn't capture the yellow tint as it's a screen issue.

Yeah I had to point that out in my answer as well. Instead I sent them a couple of photos of the display in various situations, so they could see how severe the issue is on mine.

I had this exact questionnaire done over the phone back at the start of January. I emailed in a photograph of my screen too.
