Apple sure is sloppy with thermal paste!

Yeah I cleaned everything up including the contacts when you put the base back on and reapplied new paste to everything. It's actually running a few degrees cooler as I have been running the CPU stress test for some time now to.
Was thinking about since I had it all apart(upgraded the memory and a 16x DVD-RW DL), I would rearrange the PLLs on the board for a small overclock
. Maybe another time...
I can't find a chart for the 133mhz bus so I may be doing some trial and error....

That's good.
I just fixed TWO G4's, put ram in the upper slot in one and a DVD burner in the other. Man, Apple's designers must be from freaking outer space or something, everything fits so perfect into that tiny base, and it's all solid steel to help dissipate heat!
I used silver paste, that stuff is so much better than the gluey crud, it could easily save macs with overheating problems from the get-go.

I still have mine. Can't bring myself to get rid of it. People to this day still come over and admire it.
Unfortunately, they haven't made anything since that's as stunning as the iMac G4. In fact, most of Apple's current Mac designs are variations of their 2003 line (iMac G5, PowerBook G4 12"/17", PowerMac G5).

I wouldn't mind seeing an all aluminum iMac G4 style but with the base being in the shape of the Mini or Apple TV(No dome). Now that would be a stunning iMac especially in 24" flavor.
I've thought of this, imagine placing a Mac Mini on the flat area of the foot of an intel iMac with the CD drive facing forward. That would be great for the optical drive, but other than that you can't fit the kind of power of the modern iMac into a small base like that.
