If the Apple Tablet has a carrier like At&t or verizon.
Do you think that would be required?
It's seems like another bill to pay.

I would love a tablet, but would have a need for a carrier, other than the w-fi connection around the house or hotspots.

What do you think?

Apple would be shooting itself in the foot if they made you get a contract to be able to use the device (like the iPhone).

I'm thinking that Apple may allow tethering to the iPhone.

Best of both worlds if you will. You can connect anywhere if you want providing that you have an iPhone.

I hope they will allow tethering, but I am not sure. Regardless, official tethering is not out on the iPhone yet, and no one knows when it will be, sadly.

True.

My thinking is maybe limited tethering, in that you could only tether the tablet to your iPhone and not laptop computers.

...but....wouldn't that be up to the carrier as well? Assuming the Tablet already has wifi.
True.

As I understand, some places in the world already allow tethering.

If the iPhone can only tether to the tablet, then the providers (carrier) would know that the bandwidth requirements would be limited compared to straight computer tethering. Therefore the infrastructure demands would be limited with this setup. So if Apple has been in contact with providers (carriers) such as AT&T (in the US), SoftBank (in Japan), etc., it may work.

I see the tablet having WiFi built-in. But I don't see 3G built-in.

Anyhow, just a thought. Guess we'll know soon enough. :)

It'd be nice if we had the choice. If you could buy it with or without a carrier. I wonder if it'll be Vodafone or O2 over here if it is carrier only to start.

I don't care what carrier it goes to. I just hope that I won't be required to pay some ridiculous data fee per month as wifi is suitible for me (and many others).
