How will I connect the new Apple Thunderbolt Display connector and magsafe to my Macbook Air given that the ports are on opposite sides of the notebook?

The new display is the first solution that really made me think about buying an Apple-made monitor, but that detail made me curious =P

Why would you need to do that?

A thunderbolt display is essentially a docking station and provides power to your notebook so no need to connect the power source too.

WHAT? You will need to plug in the thunderbolt on one side for video. The other half of the LED's cord is a magsafe end for power, which must be plugged to the other side.

I guess there is enough cord on both sides to Y around the form of the Air. I would hope that Apple wouldn't release something this important without thinking first about plugging their portable into it.

Sure it does carry power along, but that's not what I'm saying...

The new Apple Thunderbolt Display cord splits into a Thunderbolt connector and a magSafe connector (to charge your notebook), but they don't seem to be long enough to reach both sides of a Macbook Air...

Guys,

According to 9to5Mac, the ThunderBolt cable charges the MacBook Airs. The MagSafe on the ThunderBolt displays are for MacBook Pros.

EDIT:
9to5Mac lied?

Would still prefer it on one side - a lot more elegant that way, but I guess it is what it is.

What 9to5 says is bs, you still need the MagSafe to charge the MacBook Airs.

The "Y-split" is long enough.

They've probably made the Y-split a little longer than previous display, cuz it was just barely enough for the 13" Air.

I'd prefer it on the same side too, but I can see why they did it like that (just look at it from the side).

I'm definitely cool with the Thunderbolt being on the right, suits me even better than when I had my previous Mb pro =P
