I saw reference somewhere that Apple was rumored to be releasing a true desktop that isn't the iMac, Mini or MacPro...something along the lines a mid-spec desktop that people have been hoping for. I hadn't seen other references to this so wondered if I misunderstood or this poster was incorrect.

I ask because I'm in the market for a mini. If that's not the case then the Mini it is for me. A couple questions on that front:

-what's the issue with USB affecting wifi? Is this a mini issue or do all computers have this problem?

-is the HDMI flickering issue solved?

-any other issues I should know about before ordering?

Thanks!

Don't expect any other Desktop other than the Mini and the MacPro, this has been going on for years, people wanted a affordable tower for years, it never materialised.

USB 3 seems to have some trouble with interference on Mini's and iMacs, this could also be due to cheaper cables, like in a cheap USB 3 enclosure or HD.

On my 2012 Mini I haven't seen this appearing again after 10.8.3 but others might.

I also had issues with Bluetooth not connecting to my keyboard and trackpad, both Apple and both have been resolved on my Mini, again, others may still have issues.

does the interference issue affect USB 3 only? So if i use a USB hub that connects at USB 2.0 i wont get affected

All electronic devices emit Electro Magnetic waves, some more than others, speed controllers and dimmers are notorious for emitting large amounts of it.
The lower the voltage the less chance, the better the shielding the lower the chance it will influence other appliances/devices.

I myself never had issues with USB 1 nor 2, but this does not mean it will never happen, badly shielded cables and cheap devices could interfere.
