There is no charging mat. This was a misstatement by a support person. Happens to the best of us.

Mine came with a free Apple charging Matt. Just some genius from the Genius Bar who sits by my charger and plugs in my phone/AirPods/whatever.
You actually get AirPower if you buy them in stores. You don’t get one if you got it delivered.

I actually got a free AirPower Pro for being a long time customer (Apple in store purchase only)
I can get a special brand of AirPower if I hold an aluminum bat in a lightning storm in one hand and my AirPods in the other hand.
NOTE: Please do not hold a bat in the sky during a lightning storm.
