This is my first time trading it in through Apple. I traded in my 15 Pro
How will I know if my trade-in device value is higher?
I had an Apple gift card for $440, traded in my 15 Pro for $520, and used my credit card to pay. Right now, it still shows $628

Chances of it being "Higher" are between slim and none - so don't fret about that. If you get a gift card for some excess then 👍🏻 good on ya!

The refund will show on your card, within a few days. The banking industry is still slow, despite it all being zeroes and ones.

They will not give you higher value, just the max value that it says during the order. BTW, if you use your Gift card with the trade in, for the $520 credit you got, $440 will go back as a gift card and the rest is put on your credit card.

I bought the 16 Pro with my BOA credit card, and now I got an email saying a gift card will be sent to me for $440. I do not want a $440 gift card. I want my credit card charge credited.
Right now my credit card shows a charge $628
Apple just sent me back the gift card for $440, which doesn't make sense. I want the $440 to go toward the balance on my credit card. I don't want them to give me back the gift card, and it'll just sit there until next year.

I went through the same thing a couple years ago. Their policy is they refund the credit to whatever payment method you used, in this case a gift card. So like you said, you end up with this perpetual gift card you can never get rid of.

I called Apple and after four different long phone calls, was able to get them to cancel the gift card and credit my credit card. Dumb policy they have.

I'm calling them right to fix this. This is my first trade-in, I thought $1068-520-440=$108, and that's it. I guess its not that easy.

I’m part of the Apple Upgrade Program, and Apple received my phone on October 2nd. It’s been a few days now, but I haven’t gotten any updates on the inspection. They mention you should get an update within 24 hours, so I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar delays?

Yes. Apple received my phone Sept 30th and it's been sitting at received and inspecting your device since then.

The Weird Event JUST happened with an Apple trade-in process!
I received TWO "trade-in" kits (with NO distinguish markings other than the tracking code) to trade-in my iWatch series 9 and iPhone 15 Pro Max. So, I placed the watch and phone into the kits and sent them on their way. About 9 days later, I received a trade-in amount for my iWatch series 9. Then came the WEIRD EVENT, I received an email indicating there was a problem with my iPhone 15 pro max trade-in! I was to call APPLE Assistance.
THE PROBLEM - I had placed the watch and phone into the "WRONG" box of the trade-ins! It was the SAME type box with the only difference being the tracking number.
APPLE's SOLUTION - they were returning my iPhone 15 pro max trade-in to me! AND a new "trade-in kit!" SO? I was to place the iPhone 15 pro max returned to me into the NEW TRADE-IN KIT and return to Apple to be processed - AGAIN.
MY QUESTION TO APPLE - you already have my iphone 15 pro max in your possession, why return it to me so I can send it back to you! I'm TOTALLy missing the logic in this entire process.

Same problem here and did not know which little cheap box to use for my watch and phone. I ended taking the phone to the Apple Store and got full trade amount!

The box gets more skimpy every year!!! Next year they will just send you a label to stick directly on the phone! A real box might cost them a dollar, it is not like there is no profit to be made!

Apple doesn’t want to mess with the contents because they’re not sure if the customer 1) put the correct item in the wrong box or 2) they put the wrong item in the correct box.

Actions speak louder than words. They want you to review the items again rather than make that decision for you.

It sounds like the employee that received your watch “in the wrong box” had a fully capable thinking process and processed the trade-in. Apple is paying for the shipping so just send it back. The only downside is this doubles your risk that it gets damaged in shipping. When you get a survey explain what happened. Maybe if Apple gets enough results like this they will address the problem.

I feel it's best to make your trade in with your carrier provider, dealing with Apple is always going to be the best way for Apple to keep control of your money.

Also when i leave my phone carrier i leave with my new phone all pictures and contacts switched, and i know it's working and shows no sign of been recyled or damaged in mis handling.

So I was trading in my IPhone 15PM for the 16PM. Was quoted $650 got a refund of $710 all back into my Apple Pay. Not sure why or how but I will not question it lol.

Well I just received confirmation that my trade in went okay I think and that the payment will be applied to original form of payment. No where did it say how much though ?? I’m assuming it’ll be the original full estimate amount ?

Yep, you should get the full amount. If not they would be letting you know.

I thought I was the only one. My wife and I are in the same situation. Apple received ours on 10/4 and no update. Historically it hasn't even taken the 24 hours.

IUP - Apple received by trade-in and clear it the following day. I seem to never wait more that 2 days for their decision.

Are there still a lot of others who show their trade in not complete? I dropped my phone off at the Apple Store on launch day. Apple support says they have the phone and it’s still waiting to be inspected but nothing still. This is way longer than normal.
