I have asked in other thread of similar topic but no one answered my question so create this thread instead.

I am planning to get new iPhone and Apple Watch in September and I heard so many bad reviews over Apple Trade In online and everyone said use Apple Trade In Store. Since I never use either and I wanted to know can I just turn up to trade in my iPhone/Apple Watch? Or I need book appointment?

I would like know this since Apple Store is far from me and need plan day out in London and go Apple Store same day after September event. I don’t know if there is different between UK and USA over this either.

I would trade it in when you buy your new phone and watch in September. It's an easy process and they credit your trade-in immediately.
That doesn't answer my question though?

I always get launch day iPhone and will do same for Apple Watch. I plan to trade in iPhone and Apple Watch sometime after September so to get Apple Store gift card. Can I just walk in? Or I need book appointment?

I cannot trade in same time as launch day and I do not want do it online cos many bad reviews.

I recommend calling the store you intend to visit. They may have a store-specific policy, or have personnel constraints at certain times of day.

I just walked in and did a trade-in for a 15 Pro. No appointment necessary for me. This was in December, however, and not during "peak" Apple Store craziness in September.

Due to multiple family circumstances, I can't get to an Apple Store. I was just wondering if I can trade in by mailing my current iPhone to Apple.

When I purchased my 15PM last September I walked right into the store with no appointment and did the trade in at the same time. There's no reason I can think of that would of stopped me if I wanted to trade in my device for a gift card instead of putting it towards the new phone. I had no appointment for either transaction

Great, what do I have to do? What I plan on doing is pre-ordering my iPhone, then when I get it get the package to send to Apple.

It's been years since I've done it, but you would just pre-order the phone like you usually would, and it will ask you if you have a device to trade in. They give you like 30 days to send your device to them after they send you your kit if I remember correctly.

You usually get better trade in offers from carriers, and they are more likely to have a store near you. In person is always safer, as you're right there with them so they can't claim damage that isn't there. Trading in directly to Apple is always a last resort.

Thank you. I'll have to remember that, but it'll be kind of hard because the family circumstances I mentioned.

Since I buy my iPhone outright so not possible for me to trade in network stores (for you carriers). I don't use contract either. I have been quick look at my network and trade in so poor, Apple offer far more.

Most likely will do trade in Apple store in London after I get new iPhone in September and plan day out trip and do trade in same day. This best option for me so far.

You can walk in and trade in. However, don't do it during the night because the folks checking the iPhones might not be available.

I always order my new iPhone online and go next day to trade in. I don't add trade in in the order, just walk in hey guys I want to trade in.

I wish I could, but I don't drive and rarely get to see a friend who usually takes me places. Through, from what I understand, I can request a trade in box to send to Apple.

Perfect. I do that myself though not immediately next day, soon after since need plan day out London same time. Shame Apple Stores hard to get in UK if don’t drive. London next best cos can use train/Tube get there.

I don't drive either, I uber from home to the airport then I fly from Poland to NYC, I take the MRT to 5th ave or WTC Apple Store and do my thing 🤣

All in, it's cheaper* than buying it in Poland and I get to trade in as a nice bonus haha. Also as a bonus I get to have Tacos numero 1 which are the best in NYC.

(*we have 23% tax... so buying an iPhone + flights in US is cheaper than buying it from home)

also idk how much is the tax in the UK, but might worth checking this option too haha. You just have to smile and not be suspicious in customs upon return.

ps. in PL, 15 Pro 512 is 1970 USD
in US, NYC tax, 1414 USD.
Flights 250-400 USD.

I have traded in devices ( phones, ipads) directly to Apple online at least 4-5 times. I have never had a problem. Once you accept their offer, a trade-in box is sent to you. On 2 occasions, I received more money than they originally offered!
