Just turned on my ATV 1 to find out the only menu item under tv shows is "my tv shows" That is it. Tried restarting several times, unplugging cables...nothing seems to work.

Anybody else having this problem? Any solutions?

I find out what it is I'll report back.

Thanks

Just checked mine, and I have all the normal menu items.

Try logging out of the iTunes Store, then back in. (Settings > General > iTunes Store)

Same here.

Went on last night to buy some shows I forgot to get on Friday, noticed I only had 'My TV Shows' on the dropdown. So I guessed the box was just tired, so unplugged it, went out for a bit. Came home started it up and again it still wasn't there. Logged in/out and still wasn't. Went to bed with the internet offline, just in case it was some weird internet problem, again today, no change - still only 'My TV Shows'.

I fear this is some stupid move by Apple to make us upgrade to the ATV2. I can now only buy a show if it is in the top 20. I can't search for anything. Can't even access favourite.

:(

Mine has done this too, even though it was connected to the network with active internet.

Think I ended up changing the wireless channel on the router, and it was fine after that - possible a neighbour bought a new router and it was causing problems.

Yep that is the exact problem!

I'm sorry you are having the same problem but at least we know it is likely something that can be fixed and not our individual ATV 1.

Still wondering if this is a wide spread problem or limited?

So far I have found reset and factory restore don't work.

I'll keep looking and report.

Have you tried changing the wireless channel?

Or even better, plugging in the Apple TV via Ethernet to troubleshoot?

I have 3 appletv 1's...2 still have the options - but 1 I had to unplug last night and plugged it back in and yeah, all the options under tv shows is all gone.

Something going on with apple's servers is my guess. Didn't realize this menu got populated by them though...very strange.

Same problem here.
Tried rebooting, relogging and changing the wifi channel. No luck with any. I notice that I can connect to iTunes using the featured items at the top of the screen but there continues not to be a complete TV menu.
I'm going to go into Futurama withdrawal if this isn't rectified soon.

edit: I just noticed the dates on the previous posts. Since this is a necro'd thread, a solution must have been found long ago, yes?

edit: Ok, thats the join date, not the post date that I was looking at. I will learn to read one day. Anyway, gonna try everything rsdq suggested below short of a restore. (It takes forever to sync everything)

Thanks,

Same issue here

The TV menu has only the one item. This unit is always connected directly to the router via ethernet. I've tried logging out of the iTunes Store and back in, but that has no effect.

Weird. I just checked my ATV1, TV browsing/buying options gone from menu, only Top TV show images scrolling above the menu bar. I don't even recall a recent S/W update.

Same here...

I've done everything short of restoring to factory settings, which is next on my list. The tv shows menu seems to be the only thing that's messed up, and I can only see my tv shows in it. I can still see some top tv shows in the scroll menu across the top, but nothing down where they should be. I'll report back after my factory reset :( I hate that I'll have to re-sync all m movies...

trouble shooting

Things that have not worked for me so far:

Restart

power cycle

Factory restore

reset cable modem - power cycle

reset ethernet hub

go direct from cable modem into ATV1 - no ethernet hub

unplug and plug back in all cables

running out of ideas. Anybody have something else to try

looks like other are experiencing same thing:

Yep, menu is gone for me too...

Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus about this problem. I noticed the change in the menu on friday evening, after I had to restart my appletv when I moved it to a new location ( those who aren't having this issue, I'd suggest not restarting your appletv). I tried all the usual fixes, including a factory restore. I'm comforted to know I'm not alone in this issue, but saddened that no one has found a solution. This does seem like something happening on Apple/iTunes end of things.

Reset your settings...

Apparently Apple/iTunes got the stuff together, cause if you reboot or reset your settings, the full TV menu should reappear, at least it has for me.:)

Now to get Apple to give an explanation and an apology for the inconvenience...
