For you? Maybe not. For normal folks? Yes.

I bought my girlfriend one for Christmas. I got it running two weekends ago, and she hasn't watched cable since. She and her son watch Netflix and YouTube non-stop. And then I showed some pics via Airplay from my iPad and they flipped their lids. Do I think it's the coolest thing ever? No. But they do. And they are Apple's target audience. Not me. Not geeks. The vast majority who spend money and want simple.

i agree with you. We have a lot of thomas the train and bob the builder on our mac so we can watch it easy. My wife loves the photos on the apple tv. We don't even use netflix, but watch a lot of youtube. They have a lot of kids shows, like donald duck and mickey mouse on youtube, best thing to happen our tv.

I picked up one a couple of weeks ago and I love it. I wish Netflix had more content (at least, stuff I'm interested in streaming), but being able to connect it to my iTunes library has been great.

We absolutely love ours. Got 2 of them now and bought another for my dad.

Handles 720p flawlessly over my wifi in 2 locations and love the airplay/airtunes feature

The only thing I want is to be able to play more video formats or at least support 3rd party apps like AirVideo. Handbraking everything is a pain but at least there is a workaround available.

At $99 it is really a no-brainer

Could not agree more, we have two (since October) and after about two weeks we cut cable and have not looked back. I have a fairly large library of DVD movies and TV on DVD, it has taken a while but i have all of my movies now in iTunes and i am now starting on my TV shows. We all love it.

My wife has been obsessed with You Tube and pod cast for learning about her new camera and her beading hobby.

I quite like the ATV2. Aside from the obvious things, I think airplay has a lot of potential. Only slightly disappointing thing is that it can't do 1080p.

Well worth for the "hobby" to grow-up

Got my first ATV2 back in October for my living room HDTV. At $99 i figured how could I go wrong? And I was right... added a second ATV2 for my bedroom shortly after. :D

Love it so much with Netflix and YouTube; that I convinced my better-half to get one as a present for his brother and his family as a joint b-day and congrats on a new job present. I am sure that once they get it setup; and I show them the fun of the iPad with it - they may add the iPad sooner than they thought! LOL

Since basic cable TV is included in my condo fee, the only time I use cable is for the Today show, news, and such.

We love ours! The input is almost always set to the Apple TV and we own a PS3, Wii, cable tv, and OTA. I'm convincing all my family to get one so I can Airplay when I visit. :D
