Hi,

I purchased an Apple TV 2nd generation the other day. It was kind of an on-the-whim decision, great price and tons of capabilities. Now, I have a rear projection TV and I should have known this, but I don't have an HDMI output. Any way to get it running out of the box, or do I have to buy the HDMI - Component (RGB) box (I've read that just a cable will not work)? I was looking at them online and they appear to be upwards of $100, so I don't know if its worth it. The rear projection is really big, so buying a new TV at the same size would cost me quite a bit as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know that much about TV compared to other electronics. I know I messed up, but I still really want to use it, lol.

Thanks!

They don't ship to Canada, but I'm assuming similar boxes will work? I saw some other on eBay and such for around the same price and I guess I'll just express it - Looks like online would be my cheapest bet. Thanks again.

Yes they ship to Cda

I live in Ont and get stuff from there all the time. Very reasonable shipping rates. Could take a couple of weeks if you go for standard shipping.

Oops, my bad, I see it now. And its coming from US - Great. Thanks a lot, going to put in an order now. :)

id go with the mono price one since. composite doesn't pass HD. component does

Does your TV have DVI? And do you have a way of playing optical audio?

If yes, you can do this:

HDMI to DVI converter (for the video)
Optical audio (for the sound).

We have this on two setups (one here and one at my parent's house) ... one works perfectly and on the other everything works except netflix ... but netflix runs fine on our other ATV's with HDMI - so not a big deal.
