We'll be away from home for a month, with no cable/TV access but we will have a computer with a ratio 4:3 1024x768 DVI monitor. I'm curious if an Apple TV (2) will work with it. By "working" I mean the video would appear at proper proportion on screen. I'd expect it to be letterboxed, that's fine. Obviously I'd need an HDMI-DVI adapter.

Audio isn't an issue; I could either use AirPlay to an Airport Express or through a stereo with optical audio input.

Thanks!

Nope. No HDCP either. Audio would also be out of sync with AirPlay for sound and wired for video. Not even an option on the ATV2.

Just get a free month trial for Netflix and run it on the PC that's connected to the old 4:3 monitor.

Probably the cheapest solution would simply be upgrading the monitor to something with an HDMI input and speakers. Sounds like it's overdue :)
