Hi,

I just bought a 2nd gen Apple TV mainly so I can stream my home movies to the TV From iPad. This works great, but I am wondering about the rest of the Apple tv's features.

With DVD rentals becoming at 'at risk' entity, I love the idea of streaming videos.

We currently are on a 40gig an month broadband tariff. I am not sure if this is enough if I stream a couple of films a month on top of other things I do?

Q: how much data is streamed for an average HD movie from iTunes?

The average HD movie is going to be about 3-4 GBs. Of course, it's all dependent on the length of the movie.

Apple has a support page showing the size of downloads from the iTunes store here.

I certainly wouldn't sweat a couple of rentals a month, depending on how close you are to reaching your bandwidth cap with your other usage.

Thanks dude..

You can also look into a router that will monitor and display your monthly data usage. I have used one in the past and they are quite handy for getting an idea how much of a bandwidth consumer you are.

Is it possible to monitor the usage on the Airport Extreme?
