All it adds new is new interface and 1080 P? really they couldn't do that to the apple tV 2 seems like just another way to fork over 100 bucks.

I was really really shocked they mentioned no other features? Not even an app store or anything???

So if you buy 1080p content, how do you watch it in a mixed environment (i.e multiple v2 and v3 AppleTVs)? Is 720p gone as a download option?

I was planning on upgrading the AppleTV in my living room as the TV supports 1080p, but I really don't want to have to buy a new one for my bedroom as well (as that TV is an older 720p set).

Have they said that the 2 won't get the update? Ok on not supporting 1080p, but the other stuff?

Well movies in the cloud is a nice feature - if it's anything like the music portion - your PC will no longer need to be on for matched movies.

I wonder if any of these features will make their way back to the other black AppleTV.

I'm surprised they bothered making an announcement about this. It's barely an update - in fact, it's just announcing that, until now, the ATV has been inferior to almost all other HD kit.

1080p is very meh and will probably cost more to rent anyway. Not to mention the fact that most movies on iTunes are the sort of rubbish one finds in the petrol station bargain bin.

I have the ATV2 (gift) and still use Blockbuster and LoveFilm as much as ever.

I'm going to order one today too. I'm still using two original ATV's and like the flexability of the analog audio to stream to other parts of my home. But finally getting 1080P will make the upgrade in my HT worth the loss. I use the other in a dedicated music room with an external DAC.
