apple tv 3rd gen to work with non HD hdmi tv?

i still own a 34" sony xbr tube in a spare room that i want to hook apple tv up to it, problem is it's only component video.

has anyone used an adaptor i assume hdmi/component? don't really care about the picture quality just want to watch my iTunes movies
