Recently I’ve had a problems with my Sony OLED suddenly going haywire. After hours of troubleshooting and resetting both TV and devices connected through HDMI i found the problem: The Siri Remote. At random times the remote suddenly begin to IR blast which makes my TV go crazy. Turning TV on and off indefinitely and turning volume all the way down. I noticed the “red” light in the front of the remote was constantly lit up. Resetting the remote fixed the problem for some time but suddenly it started all over.

Have anyone else had this problem?

I utilize the Siri Remote's IR learning function to control the on/off and volume up of my old soundbar that requires IR.

See what you have in Settings, Remotes and Devices, Home Theater Control. You can choose choose on or off for Control TV's and Receivers. And in the second setting you can set options for Volume Control.

I recently reset my ATV and had to set it up again. If, for example, someone got a new television but forgot that they had trained the Siri Remote for the old TV, perhaps this could be the reason?

I’m using a Sonos Arc as soundbar which is controlled via HDMI-CEC.

I only mentioned my soundbar to explain why I use the IR commands. Check the settings for Home Theater Control just to rule out anything like that. For all we know, you just moved this ATV to a different TV and forgot that you or someone had trained it to control the other TV.

Will have a look when I come home.

I wonder which would be the best remote to control the Apple TV, TV, receiver, DVD players, and so on? While I can control these devices with the Apple TRV remote, it is just too small and slippery to my hands. I did get a rubberized sleeve or cover that helps a lot, but...
