apple tv airplay streaming interrupted by itunes

I'm trying to use Play Music in my iPhone 6s running IOS 9.2.1 to Airplay music to my generation 2 apple tv. It works for a minute or so and then out of the blue about a minute after I begin streaming apple tv starts playing AC/DC via the iTunes app. My phone shows still streaming to apple tv but it is now ignored. When I tell the phone to steam to itself for a second and then go back to streaming to apple tv it takes control again for a minute or so before apple tv decides to start playing AC/DC again. This happened 4 times. A restart by unplugging the apple tv seems to have fixed it for now, but wondered if anyone else has seen this and knows why it is happening and best way to avoid / resolve in future.
