In the last few days I thought I would buy Apple TV finally after thinking about it for a little while, so got ATV 2 (little black one) and logged onto my network via wireless.

We have in the house a Macbook Pro, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3GS and iPad 2.

The issue I'm having is that it just seems to work every now and again. Last night I walked in, turned it on, went into the music on my phone, put it to airplay and there we had it, AC/DC coming through the speakers.

15 minutes later after I had stopped the music, I tried to start another track and nothing. music is playing on the phone and it says it's connected, but no sound.

Try again a little while later and it won't even connect to the airplay, you press airplay, it goes blue and tries to connect and then airplay disappears.

Tried the iPad, even with mirroring and it was working fine, but then a little while later, the screen flashes up with the image of what's on the iPad and then it disappears immediately and airplay disconnects on the iPad.

I even tried wiring the Apple TV in through ethernet, which worked for a while, then said I had no internet connection, and I couldn't get a connection until I put it back onto wifi.

I have an n Netgear Router, anyone reckon this is some sort of router/network problem? I've never had any issues really with my router and my PS3/360... so just trying to find out if anyone has had issues like this.

I'm up to date on software on every device, rebooted everything...

Airplay had been working flawlessly for me until the iOS 5.0 update. I've had a couple of issues like you've mentioned but perhaps not as serious.

Well I've had it for two days, I've even tried things like putting the Apple TV within a DMZ and it still doesn't seem to have done anything to solve the problem.

perhaps someone with more direct experience can help. All I've needed to do is toggle Airplay on and off and it would work fine. I do recommend you run Ethernet, it's by far the best solution for streaming.

I'm even having issues of it showing up within the devices list on my mac.

We've been able to get streaming from the computer working in terms of music but mirroring from the iPhones and iPads is still buggered.

Starting to think my Netgear router is just messing this up.

DMZ has nothing to do with it, that has to do with it's connection to the outside world, the airplay connection is entirely inside your network.

have you tried rebooting the router? that will fix problems similar to yours when i have them.
