that looks brilliant functionality wise, especially if you have no interested in apples renting model.

I've been keeping my eye out on this for some time now. The Apple TV is just gonna be my bedroom device for streaming DVD rips and Netflix.

I haven't decided upon my home theater room; so it could be this or the Boxee Box.

Apple TV needs these features

I'm almost sold on this sony product, the 1080p, all the UK on demand catch up services and love film are really appealing. Especially seeing as my living room set-up is all sony kit. Hopefully it'll have bravia sync feature built in too.

Being able to attach a usb drive is a real plus.

If only these features had been included within the home cinema system.

It's not just Apple that really needs to catch up and bring these feature to their products.

I'm hoping that either Apple sorts out Lovefilm, iPlayer, iTV Player and 4oD streaming to the new AppleTV, which would really make it compelling or (more likely) that it gets hacked very soon and someone sorts out this missing functionality - should be possible given that it's running iOS...

The launch really was underwhelming, but with Lovefilm and TV catchup services I would definitely get the new AppleTV. In fact, who am I kidding, I would get one for every TV in the house. Having said that, that Sony media player definitely looks tempting, especially for those of us who do not buy iTunes videos, but use Handbrake to convert our DVDs...

Only just came across the SMP-N100 a couple of days ago and made the decision to cancel my Apple TV order this very morning.

I know it's not out in the UK until later this month, but if the press release is anything to go by then I'm sold - the Love Film integration alone is worth it.

Like you guys, just going to wait a few more weeks and see what the fuss is and them make my decision as to go with the Sony unit or re-order the new Apple TV. It's simply a case of not being too hasty! :)
