Apple TV and multiple Audio/Subtitles

Hi,
I am ripping my DVDs to .MP4 and some of them have multiple audio streams and multiple subtitles. With iTunes and the iPhone is very easy to change them while watching. Has someone try this with the ATV? How does it work?
With Front Row is impossible to change the streams!
I really like ATV but I also really need this feature!

you just have to hold down play/pause

With these I can browse the different subtitles/audios of the file while watching? Just like in iTunes?
Because I try it with Front Row and my computer goes to sleep :(

How exactly are you getting .mp4 files with "multiple subtitles"? Handbrake "hard burns" the subtitles, so there's no on/off or changing of the subtitles... At least as I understand it. If you can make .mp4/.m4v files with multiple subtitle streams, I would love to know how!

Hi, I'm using SubRip, really excellent program! This programs rips the subtitles from a DVD and gives you a .srt file. Them you can put these subtitles on the MP4 file with programs like muxo (for mac), I don't know in windows.
SubRip is for windows but I managed to run it with Wine (emulator) or a virtual machine.
The only problem I have with subrip is that it rips the whole DVD subtitles but using SmartRipper I rip the streams of the chapter I want and then load them with subRip.
 
Apple universal dock

Someone with an Apple universal dock with remote.
Is it possible to change the subtitle or audio track with the remote when using the iPod or iPhone with a TV??

You should give subler a spin. Just like muxo, only better.
 
General description of mp4 Optimize here. I have seen some strangeness using the save and optimize when adding subtitle tracks. I think I added the track then used save and optimize, and it messed up the subtitle track. Easily fixable though. I simply went back and deleted/saved, then re-added the .srt file back and it was back to normal.

What are you using to play your movies? I really want to know what Apple products support multiple audio and subtitles. I know that with iTunes, iPhone and Quicktime this is easy and nice, but don't know on ATV or iPod Classic and Nano (I assume Touch is like the iPhone).

Another question:
What program do you use to rip your subtitles?
 
I encode everything for playback on my TV, as well as separate encodes for an ipod touch. Multiple subtitle and audio tracks are selectable from a menu on the TV. I can tell you the subtitles work fine as well on the ipod touch, but I haven't specifically tried multiple audio tracks on the touch. As far as the source of subtitles, I only use subs for those videos that have foreign language parts in them. For those I download the .srt file from one of the freely available subtitle sites. Some of the times if you do enough searching you can find a .srt already made for just the foreign parts, otherwise you have to edit the file to only include the subs that you need. For editing and such I've been using jubler, it seems to work well for what I need. If you do download the .srt make sure to get one that matches the framerate of the video you are using it on.
