I'm going to get an Apple TV, mainly for audio streaming but want to know what it can do with pictures.

I have iphoto on my mac and wanted to know what i can stream.

Can i sync the photos in iphoto to my ipad/ipod and keep the albums and stuff i have set up?

Can i stream iphoto to the apple tv?

What are the capabilities?

Thanks

if you organise your photo's in iPhoto (in albums, with faces, etc), and share photo's via homesharing, then yes: you can stream your photo's.
You can use the apple-tv interface to select your photo's (by face, by event, by album) and browse or play a slideshow.
Also, you can setup the ATV to play pictures from a given collection (face, event, album) to play as a screen saver on your TV-set

using airplay, you can also stream photo's from your ipad or iphone to the appleTV

I'm not quite sure what you mean with your syncing-to-the-ipad question, but here's my setup:

all my photos reside in iphoto, my two iphones and ipad sync the pictures to the mobile devices, my two appletv's connect to my mac with iphoto and thus play the same pictures.
In the rare occasion I want to show pictures from my iphone which are not yet synced to my mac, I use airplay t directly stream the pictures to the ATV.

Thanks for the reply.

The mac with iphoto isn't on all the time, i was wondering if i synced iphoto with an ipad or iphone, would it transfer the pictures and what gallery they are in?

Could i then use airplay from an ipod and get the same effect as streaming from a mac?
