When i hit some of the alphabet letters in search mode my projector screen will click down a little bit,How can i stop this from happening?

When my projector screen is powered up into ceiling and just using my plasma,some of the apple tv remote commands will make my projector screen start to power down.Basically my apple remote is controlling my screen which also operates by remote.

Then you're very unlucky.
You need to read the following: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3296 (This is for the 1st generation Apple TV, but I have seen this functionality in the new one also)
And stick your Aluminium Apple remote in a drawer. It's not going to do you much good.

This means you can buy a third party universal remote, a cheap alternative, or simply use a remote you already have lying around to control the Apple TV. If you don't already own an iPhone or iPod Touch then this is the only/cheapest solution.

That's what I thought you meant, but a mental visual of your front room was too comical. I can't believe that your projector screen motor is hardwired into your home wiring system. Just unplug it when it's not going up and down. How many times a day do you raise and lower the screen?!

That's a workaround, but not really a permanent solution. But it might work out if you could put the screen power supply on a controllable module (X-10, Insteon, Z-Wave, etc.)
Other workarounds might include:
- change the location of the IR sensor (or block its angle of view) so you don't hit one while aiming for the other)
- use an iPod/iPad remote for the Apple TV
