After a few months of good performance, all of a sudden I can't use iTunes to control Apple TV as a Remote Speaker. I do this because I like the crossfader on iTunes, and I plan to add more speakers all over the house in the near future. I go down to the icon on the bottom of iTunes. I see Apple TV as an option. I select it. iTunes clocks, then I get an error message.

I have Home Sharing enabled, yes, I rebooted both iTunes and ATV and logged in/out of Home Sharing too.

I've updated the software on iTunes and ATV, so that's not the issue. Help.

TIA

BJ

The most recent appletv software seems to have broken sound output for some people (inc. me). Maybe that's what's happened to you? The only way I could get sound working again was to downgrade to 4.2.1 again.

i used to have a similar problem with an airport express, rebooting my main router normally fixed it.
