Hi - Got an Apple TV plugged into a HDMI TV and there is no audio coming out the analogue RCA ports on the Apple TV. Looked through the settings and can't see anything obvious. I want to plug the audio into my amp separately.

Am I missing something simple here?

It's a 1st Gen which has ATV Flash on it. Got it 2nd hand.

Cheers

I'm pretty sure the ATV gen 1 will only support either hdmi audio out or RCA and doesn't have a multioutputnsetting, like what you're looking for here. I could be wrong, though...

The first gen ATV should most definitely have audio available via HDMI and analog (RCA). I used HDMI for zone 1 audio and analog for zone 2.

I no longer use my 1st gen ATV, so not sure what to suggest, other than go into the settings and make sure there isn't something set that would prevent analog audio from working (might be some digital only setting, or something like that).

You may have to do a RESTORE and then reinstall the ATVFlash. I have the ATV1 and the RCA jacks definitely send out analog audio (and component video) to my Panny HDTV and i send digital audio to my Samsung HT in a Box...

In the ATV go to settings > sound and make sure that HDMI sound is enabled...Sometimes the auto setting doesn't work properly.

I have my ATV 3's setup via an AEBS and a 3.5mm jack into the Airport Express plugs into the amp...Then I just choose to stream to the ATV from any of my Mac's...Works fine.
