I have seen many threads on this topic but I have a bit of a twist to my situation. I recently restored my mac from time machine 1 year ago. I have never been able to connect since. Here is the one thing I have not seen in various threads or I could have missed it.

I get the same can not connect to iTunes library like everyone else. The only difference is that Apple TV is trying to reference an old mac library and computer name that was somehow was changed. I read some threads that told me to change the computer name in sharing. I did that but Apple TV still tries to connect to the old computer library name. Can I override the name in Apple TV. Help? I have been trying for year+. I am seriously thinking of getting all my music and movies off of Apple. That would be so painful!

Thanks to the genius who can solve this one.

Try signing out under "Computers" from Home screen on Apple TV, the sign back in... Should work.

Most problems get fixed this way.

[doublepost=1510499673][/doublepost]Thanks for your suggestion. I tried that as well as resetting the Apple TV to factory settings. No luck. I’ll take any other long shots.

The computer name is irrelevant for Homesharing, so changing that won't do anything. Have you checked the firewall settings on the Mac? iTunes must be allowed to receive inbound connections for Homesharing to work.

Not only that. Also iTunes Store must be accessible to authenticate the parties.
