We do have
Netflix Canada, which offers different content compared to the USA. The selection is extremely limited, even old TV series such as
Seinfeld,
Cheers or even
Dinosaurs are still not available. Forget about popular shows, even The Simpsons: Season 1 is not available either. For movies, don't expect recent movies either, or even classics such as Colossus: The Forbin Project. Then there's some strange things like the fact that they have Terminator 2: Judgment Day but not The Terminator.
Licensing of the shows and movies is probably to blame on this, I'm pretty sure Netflix would love to be able to offer as much content as in the USA.
As for iTunes, the situation is much, much better. However, at the prices they're asking for the TV shows, it makes it more expensive than cable or satellite even if you only watch a handful of shows. I do like their 99 cents movie rentals, but they don't rotate the selection too often and most titles are either extremely old or movies I've never heard of before. But as I said, aside from the prices, selection on the iTunes Store is excellent.
If you have a Canadian iTunes account, then all you have to do is browse the store with your computer. Aside from minor differences between some content available in SD or HD, what you see is what you can watch on the Apple TV.
