I own a 8 month old Apple TV (160GB) that I had hacked to install XBMC and Boxee. Couple of days ago, I tried to install the remote app on my iphone, tried to control the ATV through the app, fiddled with the remote pairing settings on the ATV menu, and just turned the box off because I had to head out.

Now when I boot my ATV it flashes amber, shows the Apple logo but doesn't go beyond that. I have tried a power cycle of the device, tried following the menu - keypress combinations on the remote, but ATV wouldn't just enter diagnostic mode at all. Every time it restarts and goes into amber light flashing, and the apple logo on the screen.

I then read a few forums talking about the remote pairing issue, and tried the menu << combination after which the light turns white and stops flashing but that's it - it wouldn't respond to any keypress on the remote after that. A subsequent reboot will result in the white apple logo on-screen and amber light flash.

I even tried to ssh into the device using frontrow@appletv.local and my ssh client times out after trying to connect for a few seconds.

Is there anything I am missing out here? I am afraid Apple is going to deny warranty because I have XBMC on it. Will Apple fix the ATV if I am willing to pay for repairs?
