Do you think it would be at all possible that the new apple tv could possibly, by someone very clever, be hacked into a very small low powered net top. Obviously the on board storage of 8gb is not enough but that extra slot for flash memory looks intriguing for diy memory upgrade...

Don't shoot me! just want to know if it would be feasible in the slightest as it shares all of components of an ipad and thats basically a small computer.

i'm not the one to answer this...but for that to happen, wouldn't it have to have the same A4 processor? and at that point, (getting the apple made processor) i would think it's pretty pointless to hack it, just buy the real thing.

im pretty sure the new apple tv does have the apple made a4 processor..... or even hacked to run ipad ios 4 then connect wireless keyboard and mouse, and be able to use ipad ilife apps?

First you would have to write the OS for the A4's architecture then it would be a low version of Linux windows xp or OS X Tiger all those would barley run on 256MB of ram however there would be sufficient processor power. Running iPad apps would be ugly there designed for 17% less pixels and a touch interface. However im excited to see what ATV Flash can do!

You need not doubt it so much. Distros exist such as Damn Small Linux that are designed to "Run light enough to power a 486DX with 16MB of Ram". http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/

My question is how long until Hulu support?
