Apple TV HDD in Mac mini?

what happens if you put a harddrive with a Apple TV system on it into a mac mini?
would be cool to boot up your mac mini so you could rent HD movies

It wouldn't work. The Mini is SATA, the ATV is PATA.

Probably won't work because of machine ID issues for iTMS. But give it a try and let us know.

Still wouldn't work since the ATV has many Intel binaries.

Ok so back to cloning the drive to a Sata. Didnt think about that one.

Cloning is a piece of cake, provided you invest in iPartition. I'm still hoping for a nice, quiet enclosure for a really big 3.5" drive. I'm starting to encode a number of movies with AC3 and AAC and have some issues with stuttering by streaming. Sync and forget will be the solution, I think.
