I have Apple TV 2.0, I was watching a movie which was being streamed from my desktop computer. Towards the end it would no longer stream and now I do not see Apple TV in the devices under iTunes. iTunes will not recognize the apple tv.

When I go under itunes preferences I have it look for apple TV's and mine is listed, I can connect to the network with the apple TV, but itunes is no longer connected and it doesn't showup on my desktop.

Is this a apple tv problem or a itunes problem????

Its back. I unplugged the apple tv and rebooted, then restarted itunes and all of a sudden it was back. That was really weird.

Itunes would not recognize it. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Thanks.

We've all had similar, ongoing problems since updating to version 2.0. Unfortunately, too many new variables were introduced around the same time to easily point a finger at the buggy culprit.

Rebooting, losing connection to iTunes, iTunes dropping the Apple TV, worse streaming performance, HDMI issues, etc. can all be created by individual subsystems as well as by interactions between subsystems.

This is not a simple issue -- Apple (with Leopard) has yet to fix AirDisk access issues, wireless transfer speeds between 2 computers on the same network, etc. It's early in 10.5's life cycle -- it took a long time for 10.4 to get truly stable.

There are a lot of pieces that interact: iTunes, Airport/Wireless services, Security, Apple TV, etc. I'm glad I am not debugging a system this complex.

I know what I am telling you is little consolation, but these issues will get sorted out sooner or later.
