Can someone please explain to me what I can and can't do with apple tv, I am really interested in buying one. I also have a iPad 2, so would the apple tv allow me to show my iPad onto my tv? Kinda confused by the entire thing, I have looked on apples site about it also..

i just bought one as an xmas gift for myself and LOVE IT.

just remember the 1080p apple tv can NOT be jailbroken yet. only the 720p(last gen) can be.
this is why i dont have the newest apple tv yet. no jailbreaking = a deal killer.
i can stream directly from my NAS to the apple tv flawlessly (i have like 100dvd's & 150blurays on there)
I would add, even if your not interested in jailbreaking an Apple TV streaming media from an iTunes host to your HDTV is a very good reason to have an Apple TV. Its one of main uses for mine.
As noted above, if you have an iPad then Airplay is also a very handy capability. And with the Apple Remote App you can also control an Apple TV from your iPad.

Why are you interested if you don't understand? The Apple site clearly indicates what you can do with the AppleTV.

What specific questions do you have aside from the one above? It's unrealistic to expect people to tell you every single thing you can and can't do with one. The latter would be endless.
