I have an Airport Extreme, MacBook Pro and Apple TV (2gen)

I don't have too much space on my Macbook, and i have an external hard drive connected to the airport extreme, i was wondering if there was some way that i would be able to somehow get the external to recognize the videos that are stored on the external to play through apple tv.

Is there any way? Please Help!

I assume what you mean is there any way for the Apple TV to recognize and play the videos you have stored on the hard drive that is connected to the airport extreme? Is that right?

Out of the box? No. The Apple TV will only play those videos that are in iTunes.

However, what I've done and what a lot of other people have done, is to jailbreak the ATV and install XBMC. XBMC will recognize and play all those videos bypassing iTunes entirely.

If you're interested, check out the various threads in these forums and those in the XBMC forums

I am not sure but my guess would be that if the iTunes that runs on your MacBook can play them then as long as your MacBook is on and running ITunes then you should be able to access them through your ATV using home sharing.

I basically do this now but it is an ext hd connected to my iMac by FireWire.
